Notes from the field

I’m originally from San Diego, California, and I began playing hockey in 5th or 6th grade—around age 12. Outside of hockey, I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching, and reading. I am an Orthodox Christian, and my faith is the foundation of who I am and how I live. I’m a wife to Stuart Valzonis, a mother to a baby girl in Heaven, and I am expecting a baby boy in July 2025. After his birth, I plan to return to play, with the dream of competing in front of my family and hometown crowd at the LA 2028 Olympics.

Megan's Ritual

My game day routine always starts with reviewing the game plan and making sure I clearly understand my role on the field, as well as studying my opponents. Music and dancing are a must—they help me get in the zone. I also love playing "soccer circle" with my teammates on the pitch. Most importantly, I always make sure to get some touches and shots in before warm-ups. It helps me feel comfortable on the surface and fully locked in before game time.
